I have been performing vascular and interventional radiology procedures since 1999, building on my earlier training in Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology. Over the years, I’ve dedicated my practice to providing minimally invasive treatments, and I’m grateful to have made meaningful contributions to the field of Interventional Radiology in the UK, Canada, and Singapore.
Today, I serve as a Senior Consultant, Vascular and Interventional Radiologist at Nuffield Vascular and Interventional Radiology, where I specialise in delivering patient-centred care.
During my medical school days, I was honoured to receive the Gold Medal in Radiology. After completing my basic medical and residency training, I pursued advanced specialist registrar training in the UK, earning my CCST (Certification of Completion of Specialist Training) from the Mersey Deanery in Liverpool. I then had the privilege of undertaking a prestigious fellowship in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at Vancouver General Hospital, Canada.
From 2005 to 2011, I worked as a Consultant in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at City Hospital in Birmingham, UK. My time there was fulfilling as I established advanced interventional radiology services, inspected hospitals with the Care Quality Commission, and served as Deputy Divisional Director. Additionally, I enjoyed mentoring others as a Clinical Tutor with the Royal College of Radiologists and teaching as a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Birmingham.
In 2011, I moved to Singapore to join Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, where I established advanced pinhole surgical procedures and trained doctors in this innovative approach. I also set up an IR clinic, managed patient care through ward rounds, and provided 24/7 emergency on-call services. I’ve always been a strong advocate for collaborative working to ensure the best outcomes for patients.
In that same year, I became the first Interventional Radiologist in Singapore to achieve the European Board Interventional Radiology (EBIR) qualification.
I have a special interest in treating complex vascular disorders, including venous access, vascular malformations, EVAR, carotid stenting, prostate artery embolisation, and uterine fibroid embolisation. My expertise extends to trauma embolisation, dialysis fistula and catheter management, and a wide range of revascularisation and embolisation procedures.
I also specialise in non-vascular interventions such as tumour ablation, biopsies, biliary drainage, nephrostomies, and spinal procedures like kyphoplasty, vertebroplasty, and nerve root injections. I aim to deliver care to each of my patients with innovative techniques.
Recently, I helped establish a unique subspecialty in Pain Relief through Interventional Radiology, which has been a deeply rewarding endeavour.
Beyond clinical practice, I have shared my knowledge internationally, performing and teaching procedures in several countries, including the UK, Canada, and Singapore. I published a book with Springer in 2021 titled Interventional Radiology in Palliative Care and have authored numerous papers in leading peer-reviewed journals. These contributions have earned me recognition on the international stage, and I currently serve as the Deputy Editor of Clinical Radiology, a journal of the Royal College of Radiologists in London.
Outside of medicine, I am passionate about online health, writing, and reading. I also enjoy deep-sea scuba diving, skiing (despite two fractures!), and providing medico-legal reports. My focus remains on achieving the best clinical outcomes for my patients while delivering compassionate interventional care.
