If you’re struggling with chronic pelvic pain, discomfort, or a feeling of heaviness, help is here. At Nuffield Vascular and Interventional Radiology, Dr Suresh Babu offers personalised care and specialised treatments designed to meet the unique challenges of pelvic congestion syndrome.
Pelvic congestion syndrome is a condition characterised by chronic pelvic pain, resulting from the pooling of blood in the veins of the pelvis or lower abdomen due to weakened venous valves.
Pelvic congestion syndrome (PCS) is characterised by a dull ache or a sensation of heaviness in the pelvis that can persist for 3 to 6 months. The pain may occur on one or both sides of the pelvis, more commonly on the left, but it can alternate between sides. Factors that increase abdominal pressure, such as walking, posture changes, lifting, or prolonged standing, often intensify the pain. It tends to worsen before or during menstruation, with subsequent pregnancies, and during or after sexual activity. Pain intensity is typically greater at the end of the day.
PCS predominantly affects women aged 20–50 years, particularly after multiple pregnancies.
Ovarian vein embolisation is a minimally invasive, nonsurgical day procedure performed under light intravenous sedation.
This effective and safe treatment offers relief from PCS symptoms, helping patients return to their daily lives with improved comfort.
